The popular Golden Bike Library launches its second season Thursday, with refreshments and giveaways at the Golden Visitors Center, 1010 Washington Ave.

That event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as the bike rental program kicks off 2017 with an expanded fleet of 60 bicycles. The Golden Bike Library rented 1,666 bikes in its inaugural year to visitors from 39 different states and another 31 from around the world.

This summer, the Golden Bike Library plans to expand with two new satellite stations — one at the end-of-line W-Line station at the Jefferson County government building, and the second on the Colorado Schools of Mines campus.

Golden has 24 miles of interconnected bike trails, all easily accessible from the Bike Library. The library’s hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday through Sunday. The first two hours are free, and a daily rental costs $10. Reservations are available at .
