The Regional Transportation District is holding a “rider appreciation day” Friday to mark the University of Colorado’s A-Line’s first anniversary of operations between downtown Denver and Denver International Airport.

Festivities start at 6:30 a.m. at Union Station and Peoria Station and at 5 a.m. at DIA, where passengers can partake in light refreshments and get swag.

In a news release this week, RTD acknowledged that there have been “some operational challenges” , but it pointed out that the $1.2 billion line has moved nearly 5 million people and has an 89 percent on-time performance rate.

The actual first anniversary of the A-Line’s launch is Saturday.
