The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office said the man who took his fiancée’s 8-year-old son camping Friday and didn’t return home Sunday as planned returned home safely Monday morning.

Terry Jackson, 34, who carried no phone, and Kayden Cook, arrived home after staying an extra night camping in Montrose, the sheriff’s office said in a tweet.

Authorities were concerned when the pair didn’t return home as expected Sunday night in part because Jackson has a history of changing his mind about where he’s going while he’s en route and doesn’t have phone, authorities said.
