
One man was killed and another wounded in a shooting in Aurora on Friday morning, police say.
Gunfire erupted at about 8:45 a.m. on the 9500 block of east 14th Avenue, in the northwest part of the city. That’s just south of where Clinton Street and East Colfax Avenue intersect.

“When officers got on scene they found, two adult male shooting victims,” said Sgt. Chris Amsler, an Aurora police spokesman. “One had very serious injuries and our officers began life-saving measures.”
Both wounded men were taken to a hospital where the more gravely hurt one was pronounced dead. Amsler says the other victim is expected to survive.
“At the scene we did take a person of interest into custody,” Amsler said. “He has not been arrested or charged at this time. We do not believe there are any additional suspects at this time.”
The name of the man taken into custody has not been released. No other suspects are being sought.
Police have not said what motivated the shooting. The name of the man killed will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
“At this point were still interviewing witnesses,” Amsler said.
