While most NFL conversations this time of year revolve around quarterback competitions and practice attendance, ‘s puzzling status as a free agent into June remains a constant national story.
The debate of whether Kaepernick is being blackballed by NFL executives due to 2016 anthem protests and social justice stances will continue unless the quarterback is signed, including among players.
Broncos tight end knows Kaepernick well having lived with the former 49ers quarterback while the two played football at Nevada. Tuesday, he gave his thought process on why Kaepernick still hasn’t been signed by an NFL team after becoming a free agent in March.
“Itap crazy. Kap is a great QB. He’s a smart QB. He’s very competitive. So it is kind of shocking that he’s not on a team. But at the same time, there are a lot of different opinions and viewpoints out there. They don’t all agree with Kap. Itap something he has to deal with. Ultimately, I think he should be a QB in the NFL.”
Green has been supportive of Kaepernick since it became a divisive topic, but he didn’t want to tread into the waters of explaining why the quarterback can’t seem to find a team.
“I really don’t want to go into that,” Green said, pondering how much of a statement he wanted to make. “But, itap uhh … Yeah, I don’t want to talk about that.”
Broncos linebacker , who participated in his own anthem protest for half of the 2016 season, has been vocal in his belief that Kaepernick has been blackballed due to his stances.
