Re: June 3 news story.
Please help me. I’m confused. A group calling itself the Proud Boys held a free-speech demonstration in Boulder and was met with several hundred counter-protesters protesting … uh, free speech? I seriously doubt I would ever have heard of the Proud Boys if not for the counter-protesters.
Your readers are now aware of this group thanks to the free publicity provided by the counter-protesters. I’m sure their response would be that they were merely protesting views with which they disagree, but surely they can understand that ignoring the Proud Boys would have been the best protest choice. Probably little or no supporters and no publicity.
Another option would be to stop protesting every view or opinion you’re opposed to and listen to the opposition. It’s a great idea and should be taught in schools and universities across our country.
