A Denver man was sentenced Friday to 42 years in prison for a fatal stabbing.

Jamaal Edwards, 31, was convicted in April of second-degree murder in the death of John Shoeboot, 53, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

Edwards pleaded guilty, also on Friday, to of James Clyde Brown, 42, a DA’s office news release said.

In the early morning hours of Jan. 7, 2015, Edwards fatally stabbed both men in an apartment in the 1400 block of Xenia Street.

Edwards was sentenced to 12 years in prison for Brown’s death. The sentences will run concurrently.
