The driver of a Subaru that investigators say forced an RTD bus off the road just east of Boulder this week — causing it to skid off a sidewalk and nearly flip onto its side — has been cited in the crash.

Robert Carl, 40, was cited with careless driving in Wednesday’s crash, according to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Josh Lewis.

The crash occurred Wednesday morning in the 6500 block of Arapahoe Road just east of Boulder. According to witnesses, Carl was driving east and tried to make a left turn in front of a Jump bus, which was headed west. The two vehicles collided and the bus hit several other parked vehicles before coming to a rest nearly on its side.

Officials with Rocky Mountain Fire and the state patrol said 14 people were evaluated by medical responders, and out of that, two were treated for minor injuries and released, and one was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
