A 3-year-old boy was shot in the arm Wednesday afternoon in Commerce City.

Officers were called at about 3:30 p.m. to 9726 Nucla St. on a report of an “accidental discharge of a firearm,” Commerce City police spokesman Cmdr. Robert Thomas said.

When officers arrived they found the boy suffering from a gunshot wound and they applied pressure to it, Thomas said.

Paramedics took the boy to Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora, where he was reported in stable condition.

The incident is being investigated as an “accidental shooting,” Thomas said. Police did not say who fired the shot or how the shooting occurred.
