Cloudy skies and afternoon rain will cool things off Friday along the Front Range, forecasters say.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected to begin mostly after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
There is a 40 percent chance of showers Friday afternoon. The high temperature in Denver will be about 90 — about 10 degrees cooler than Thursday’s 100 degrees, the weather service says.
It will be breezy at times with winds gusting up to 23 mph.
Saturday’s forecast call for a 20 percent chance of afternoon rain and thunderstorms with a high of about 87 degrees, forecasters say.
Temperatures will head up under mostly sunny skies the first part of next week with a high of 94 degrees on Sunday and 97 on Monday, the weather service says.
There’s a slight chance for rain Monday night and again on Tuesday, when the high will be around 92 degrees, the weather service says.
