Some travelers spent more time in Denver than expected Friday and diversions into the evening.
Though the weather dissipated around 10 p.m., DIA spokesman Heath Montgomery said that as the storm moved east it covered a departure/arrival route causing further issues.
He said that somewhere in the neighborhood of 160 flights were affected leaving several hundred passengers in the area overnight.

All of the airlines saw some impact due to the weather and Montgomery said with United having the largest number of flights out of Denver they probably saw the most impact.
Another 45 incoming flights were diverted to regional airports, including Colorado Springs. Those flights began returning to Denver around 8:30 p.m. Friday.
