A man called Lakewood police Tuesday morning and said he had accidentally shot his roommate. The victim died later at a hospital, and police are now trying to determine what happened.
Police received the call at 6:40 a.m., said Lakewood Police spokesman Steve Davis.
“The man that called us was waiting for us outside” the home in the 1700 block of South Cole Street, Davis said. He was taken into custody. Police found a second man who had been shot inside the house.
The victim was taken to St. Anthony Hospital, and was later declared dead.
A woman who lives on the second floor of the two-story town home was in her apartment at the time of the shooting. “These guys stayed downstairs. She wasn’t downstairs when it occurred,” Davis said.
Neither the victim nor the suspect have been identified.
