An Arapahoe County Sheriff’s deputy is facing criminal charges in connection with .

Deputy Dale Davis was charged with misdemeanor careless driving resulting in injury and cited for failing to drive on the right side of the road in connection with the June 17 crash, according to a news release from the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

Davis, 35, was served Thursday with a summons and complaint on the charges. He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 29 for an advisement hearing.

Davis and the trooper were responding to an emergency call when their cars collided near East 48th Avenue and Manila Road in Aurora. Dale was . He has returned to modified duty as he recovers, said Julie Brooks, an Arapahoe County sheriff’s spokeswoman.

Cpl. Ivan Alvarado, a 10-year veteran assigned to Troop 3D, was treated at a hospital after the collision and is recovering, said Trooper Josh Lewis, a state patrol spokesman.

Aurora police investigated the accident.
