The Denver metro area could see more showers and thunderstorms this weekend, which is needed as this year’s accumulation so far is 2.4 inches below normal.

There’s a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday with the best chance between 2-8 p.m., National Weather Service spokesman Jim Kalina said. The start of the weekend should have a high of 80 degrees and a low of 60 degrees.

Sunday has a 30 percent chance of showers with a high expected near 81 degrees and low near 61 degrees, Kalina said.

NWS has recorded 7.11 inches of rainfall this year, which is below normal, he said. But he said different parts of the city see varying levels of rainfall. It’s been drier at the Denver International Airport, where the official measurement is taken, compared to south Denver.
