A fisherman discovered skeletal remains on Saturday near Gross Reservoir, and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and Boulder County Coroner’s Office are looking into whether the remains belong to Ryder Johnson, a Lafayette man who went missing in January 2016.
“It is in the same general area where Ryder Johnson’s car was found,’ sheriff’s office Cmdr. Mike Wagner said. “We don’t know if it is him.”
Wagner said that a man fishing off a trail near Gross Reservoir found the bones, which appeared to have been scattered by wildlife. Because of weather and the time of day, the sheriff’s office, coroner and Front Range Rescue Dogs couldn’t return to investigate until Sunday.
Johnson, who was 20 years old at the time of his disappearance, was last seen leaving his job at Eldora Mountain Resort. His vehicle was found unoccupied near Gross Reservoir, and rescue crews searched Gross Reservoir and Walker Ranch using boats and drones.
