Kasichlooper 2020? Colorado governor says “it’s fun to talk about, but it’s not in the cards”

Hickenlooper and Kasich have appeared together several times in recent weeks to discuss health care

Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper dispelled ruminations that he would seek higher office — namely the presidency — alongside his Republican counterpart, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, in the 2020 election, saying “it’s fun to talk about, but it’s not in the cards.”

“We’re in a two-party system, and that kind of a campaign generally distracts. It’s symbolic, and I can understand the point of that,” said Hickenlooper, who is term-limited and will leave office in 2018. “I don’t think it’s in the cards.”

Kasich and Hickenlooper  by a group of U.S. governors to urge congressional Republicans and Democrats over the past several months, and at . That about the pair possibly joining forces to run a bipartisan campaign.

 last week, Hickenlooper said “you never know” when asked about the idea, calling Kasich an “easy person to work worth.” But on Tuesday, after he and Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez attended a health care rally to halt GOP efforts to repeal Obamacare, Hickenlooper was more hardened in his response.

“I think Tom would kill me if I did something like that,” Hickenlooper told reporters while standing next to Perez.
