Thornton names military veteran in North Carolina as new city manager

Thornton has chosen a 26-year U.S. Army veteran as its next city manager, naming Stallings, N.C., town manager Kevin Woods to the post this week.

The city council will formally hire Woods at its Aug. 22 meeting, and he is slated to start his new job Oct. 2.

Woods has been town manager for Stallings, population 15,000, for the past three years. Thornton, with a population nearing 140,000, is Colorado’s sixth-largest city.

Woods, originally from Indiana, spent 26 years in the U.S. Army and fulfilled his final military assignment as deputy commander for U.S. Army in San Antonio, Texas. He also worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he had multiple assignments in the United States and abroad.
