The Denver Fire Department responded to reports of a loud bang at East 38th Avenue and York Street early Sunday morning and visible vapors coming from the Coca-Cola plant near the intersection.
Fire crews found that a leaking liquid nitrogen tank caused the noise.
“In an enclosed space this would cause all the oxygen to be sucked out of the room,” a Denver Fires spokesman said. “We’re not issuing a reverse 911 and there is no immediate threat to the neighborhood.”
Officials determined that there was minimal leakage and will remain at the intersection until a repair technician arrives.
The fire department advised people to avoid the intersection of 38th and York while repairs are underway.
