The shooting took place near the park’s west boat ramp, north of East Union Avenue entrance, according to the sheriff’s office. It is unclear what led up to the violence.
Deputies responded to the popular, 4,200-acre park, located south of the Interstate 225-Parker Road interchange, at 7:20 p.m. to assist Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials in responding to a shooting, according to Arapahoe County sheriff’s spokeswoman Julie Brooks.
Officials have not released information about the victim or the suspect. No suspect information has been made public, but the department reported Sunday night that a person fled the scene on foot and was not believed to be a further threat to the community.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 303-795-4711.
