Monday’s high temperature will flirt with 90 degrees along the Front Range and the eastern plains before a few scattered rain storms cool things off a bit, according to weather forecasters.

The high is expected to reach 87 degrees in downtown Denver, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. It is expected to be 90 degrees in Sterling.

“The storms may produce wind gusts to 40 mph, small hail and brief heavy rain. A few stronger storms may occur over the far northeast plains this evening with wind gusts to 50 mph, nickel size hail and heavy rainfall,” the weather service says.

It will be mostly sunny with a 20 percent chance of afternoon rain and thunderstorms in Denver. Winds could gust up to 20 mph.

Tuesday will be similar, but it won’t be quite as hot. The high will reach 84 and there is a 20 percent chance of afternoon rain and thunderstorms.

It will be even milder on Wednesday, with a high of around 79 degrees. There’s a 20 percent chance of evening storms with thunder, lightning and rain, the weather service reports.

The high on Thursday will be around 83 and once again afternoon rain and thunderstorms are expected.

Between Friday and Sunday it is expected to be partly cloudy. There is no rain in the forecast for that time span and temperatures will be about 84 on Friday and 87 on both Saturday and Sunday, the weather service says.
