South Carolina U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham told Donald Trump on Thursday that “history is watching us all” in a series of morning tweets in Virginia.
“Because of the manner in which you have handled the Charlottesville tragedy you are now receiving praise from some of the most racist and hate-filled individuals and groups in our country,” the Republican said in a statement. “For the sake of our Nation — as our President — please fix this.”

Graham’s tweets follow an early morning attack on him from Trump in which the president accused Graham, who has been critical of Trump’s response , of being “publicity seeking.”
“He just can’t forget his election trouncing,” Trump tweeted. “The people of South Carolina will remember!”
Also on Thursday, the Associated Press reports Trump bitingly decried the rising movement to pull down monuments to Confederate icons, declaring the nation is seeing “the history and culture of our great country being ripped apart.”
Trump for his back-and-forth comments on Charlottesville, and then on on liberal groups in addition to white nationalists.
Colorado’s congressional delegation, as a whole, responded with outrage.
U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn, an El Paso County Republican, had some of the toughest comments for his party’s leader, saying”statements that provide even indirect comfort to these merchants of evil are unacceptable and wrong.”
U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner, a Republican, continued pushing back on Trump — — saying the president was “wrong to do that” when he reversed his stance on Tuesday.
