Want to learn to shoot photos like a pro?

The Denver Post has teamed with to create The Denver Post Photography Workshop Series. The workshop is an opportunity for photographers to gain valuable experience working alongside prize-winning Denver Post photojournalists.

In the fall workshop, you’ll have an opportunity to gain insight into the best techniques and equipment to improve your abilities as a photographer. You’ll receive editing and coaching from Pulitzer Prize winning Denver Post photographers and have an opportunity to have your work published in The Denver Post.

The two-day workshop is planned for Saturday, Oct. 7 and Sunday, Oct. 8. The first day will be filled with lectures and you will be assigned to a Denver Post photojournalist or photo editor for coaching and a Q and A session. On the second day, you’ll have the opportunity to actually go into the field and produce photography. At the end of the workshop, awards will be presented for the best work and you’ll have the opportunity to have your work published in The Denver Post.

Participation is limited to 50 people. The first 15 people to register get a $50 discount on the $500 registration fee.

What should I bring?

Bring your digital camera and lenses. You’ll have opportunities to ask questions about your gear and you’ll need your camera for the assignment on Sunday. Please bring samples of your work you’d like to receive feedback on. These can be images on your laptop or iPad, or submitted on a flash drive to be transferred to our computers.

First place, $500 Mike’s Camera Gift Card
Second place, $200 Mike’s Camera Gift Card
Third place, $150 Mike’s Camera Gift Card

Plus every participant will receive a 12×18 Custom Giclée Print, up to a $45 value, and a personal consultation with a Mike’s Camera custom imaging specialist. You’ll have the opportunity to choose from one of over 30 specialty and fine art papers on which your image will be printed to create the best results possible.
