Fans of Dobby, , will be able to watch the little guy grow up, a relief for some who worried he’d be transferred to another zoo.

The zoo regularly fields questions from visitors about Dobby’s future. As a member of the Species Survival Plan, the zoo will relocate animals to help species grow, spokeswoman Marina Belisle said. But thankfully, the giraffe’s genes are common enough that he’s not needed elsewhere.

The zoo took to Twitter Thursday to assuage those fears in a video featuring Dobby eating snacks from a trainer’s hand while another flips through signs announcing his continued residency.

“It’ll be fun to see him grow up,” Belisle said.

Dobby has gone through healthy growth over the last six months, which is good because it initially took time for him to progress, Belisle said. On . Now he’s 405 pounds and stands at 8 feet tall. But he’s still shy of his father Dikembe’s 2,193 pounds.

Keepers report that Dobby is very sweet and playful, wanting to interact with the other giraffes, Belisle said. He used to act as his mother’s shadow but now he likes to explore and venture out, she said.
