Fire danger high across much of Colorado Tuesday

Fire conditions will be ripe throughout the much the state Tuesday afternoon with gusty winds and low humidity.

The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for the afternoon and into the early evening hours.

West to southwest winds will increase across the plains, and gusts to 50 mph are possible in higher terrain, with gusts up to 40 mph at lower elevations, according to the NWS.

Wind will combine with relative humidity of 8 to 15 percent to cause extreme fire weather conditions in places.

Temperatures are expected to be reach the high 80s.
