Thumbs up to The Denver Post for its thoughtful, in-depth front page article shedding light on factors that contribute to the growing number of deaths on Colorado’smountains.
I don’t think it is an exaggeration to say the article saved lives among those who had never before considered its message. I hope, too, that the reader will consider the lives of the volunteers and professionals who go up on the peaks torescuethe unprepared and inexperienced.
Mountainrescueis not pressing 911 and waiting for the fire truck to arrive. Climbers making bad decisions can put more lives at risk than their own.
