Re: “” Sept. 15 letter to the editor.

Bradford Pierce thinks that just because he is healthy and almost never goes to see his doctor, that he has no need for insurance.

Mr. Pierce, the fact is that the past cannot guarantee the future. If that were the case, the insurance industry would be MUCH different. If you can tell me with a straight face, that you can guarantee that you will not have a major illness within the next few years, I’d have to say that you are either delusional or a liar.

On top of that, if you own a drive a car, do you also complain about the government forcing you to have insurance, even though you may “almost never” have any auto accidents? Do you decline to carry homeowner’s insurance, because you “almost never” have a problem with your home?
