Workers got stuck in a hydraulic lift several stories above the ground Monday in Colorado Springs and were in need of rescue.

The work-related incident happened at St. Francis Medical Center, 6001 E. Woodmen Road, according to the fire department.

One worker was rescued and safely brought to the ground at about 10:20 p.m., firefighters said.

The fire department sent a heavy rescue unit to the scene and firefighters got on the roof, before the initial rescue, to lower blankets to the stranded workers.

As the rescue attempt unfolded, weather in the area, about 9 p.m, was foggy and rainy with temperatures in the mid-40s, according to the National Weather Service. Firefighters on the roof were able to talk with the workers as the rescue progressed.
