George F. Will perpetuates the phony story that Social Security is nothing but an “entitlement,” saying our nation’s aging population is “devouring our national resources.” Every one of the 50 years I contributed to Social Security, the “fiscal conservatives” in Washington took my money and spent it on their deficit. As a small-business owner, most of that time I contributed double.
I’m not saying we can’t improve Social Security to compensate for the demographic shifts that our genius legislators failed to see coming. But don’t equate it to a welfare program “dispersed by the entitlement state” and don’t imply I have no right to get paid back. Fake news!
