Grades and game balls from Broncos’ 16-10 victory over the Raiders

The Broncos bounced back after 64-yard Derek Carr TD pass to dominate for three quarters

Offense: C

Running backs and took advantage of some big holes but quarterback never found a rhythm after a hot start. Protection issues continued to plague Denver.

Defense: A-

The Broncos bounced back after 64-yard TD pass to dominate for three quarters. Backup QB  did fourth-quarter damage against Denver’s secondary, but safety sealed the victory with an interception with 1:46 left.

Special teams: B-

A penalty negated a big punt return and missed a 29-yard field-goal attempt after the Broncos snuffed out an Oakland fake punt. Isaiah McKenzie had a 29-yard punt return that set up a field goal.

Coaching: B

The Broncos used jumbo formations in the second half to pound the Raiders in the ground game, a key adjustment as Oakland began generating pressure on Siemian.


Game balls

Justin Simmons, S. His fourth-quarter interception of a deep ball from Oakland backup QB EJ Manuel sealed a white-knuckle victory.

Domata Peko, NT. He may have registered only two tackles, but the veteran defensive lineman anchored another dominant performance by Denver’s rush defense.

, TE. Had four catches for a career-high 75 yards and a spectaculr one-handed touchdown grab that gave the Broncos a 7-0 lead.
