We returned home last week from a trip that included a day at Normandy, France. It was moving to see the rows of white marble grave stones of the 9,300 American soldiers buried there, having paid the ultimate price for freedom. Those young people, averaging only 24 years old, gave up their work, education, families, friends and way of life to respond to an injustice. It is a stark contrast from what is happening with some NFL players. Instead of taking a knee to disrespect the flag of our nation, maybe they should instead step away from their lucrative contracts and fame and go work full-time to actually make a real change in the cause they say they believe in so deeply. Just like what those men and women buried above Omaha Beach did.
