The 2017-18 NHL season is underway and the are off to a 4-2-0 record to open the year.

But coming off of an abysmal 2016-17 campaign, finishing with a 22-56-4 record for a paltry 48 points — 21 fewer than the second-to-worst team in the league — it’s little surprise that the Avs were the lowest ranking team in NHL Live 18. With an overall rating of 87, Colorado is in last place, just behind the and — both at 88.

So how did this team fare in the video game world? Here’s a look at the Avs’ simulated season in NHL Live 18:

October

Colorado picked up where it left last year, losing four straight to open the new season. But rallied to close out the month with three victories. Record: 3-7-1.

November

Despite their poor overall rating, the Avs heated up to close out the month with a six-game winning streak. The surge lifted Colorado into the No. 8 spot in the west. Month: 9-3-0. Overall: 12-10-1.

December

As quickly as the team’s meteoric rise came, reality sent Colorado crashing back to Earth as the Avs lost seven in a row, tallying just two points to open up the month. Month: 4-9-2. Overall: 16-19-3.

January

Winning three of its final four to close out the month, the offense picked up as the Avs averaged 4.5 goals in those games. Month: 6-4-1. Overall: 22-23-4.

February

Continuing their solid play, the Avs recorded their second straight winning month. Month: 7-5-2. Overall: 29-28-6.

March

Colorado made solid strides toward regaining a playoff spot by opening the month 7-4-1. However a three-game losing streak to close the month all but knocked the Avs out of contention. Month: 7-7-1. Overall: 36-35-7.

April

The team’s losing streak extended to six before Colorado won their season finale: a meaningless 6-2 victory over St. Louis. The Avs finished 13th in the Western Conference with 81 points, seven short of grabbing a playoff spot. Month: 1-3-0. Overall: 37-38-7.

Recap: led the team with 26 goals, 40 assists and 66 points. bounced back from a mediocre year, finishing with 59 points (25g, 34a). was surprising as the No. 3 points scorer, finishing with 53 points (19g, 34a).

Between the pipes, Jonathan Bernier ended up with a team-high 48 starts. He had a 22-20-4 record with a 91.6 save percentage and a 2.49 goals-against average. started 35 games (14-16-3) and had a 2.76 GAA and saved 91.2 percent of the shots against him.

Around the league: Toronto ended up with the league’s best record, tallying 110 points to edge the (109). Edmonton (101) earned the top seed in the Western Conference, followed by St. Louis (96). One interesting note: the expansion Vegas Golden Knights finished with the No. 6 seed after gaining 90 points.
