It is becoming increasingly difficult to pass through any one of Denver’s neighborhoods without spotting an increasing number of homes that demonstrate stand-out residential design. One Hilltop home illuminating this trend will be on display at the 2017 Denver Designer Show House, an event sponsored by LIV Sotheby’s International Realty that supports Children’s Hospital Colorado. Taking place Oct. 27-29 and Nov. 3-5, the Show House format is new in 2017 in that the home on display, 346 Elm St., is a new-build, choreographed from the ground up by local Denver architect/interior design team Carolyn Morris and Carlos Alvarez of Alvarez Morris Architectural Studio, along with their team and contributing designers.

“The Denver Designer Show House (DDSH) is an opportunity for the interior design and art community to come together to support one of the true philanthropic gems of Colorado,” said LIV Sotheby’s International Realty broker and event chair Maggie Armstrong. “This show house offers the best in design and architecture. Fresh, modern yet warm, inviting spaces that are elegant and sophisticated. Everyone will find some inspiration for their own home here.”
This multi-weekend event will showcase the total transformation of 346 Elm St., a residence noted for its balanced composition between contemporary and traditional design style. Alvarez designed and built the home, then Morris and contributing designers styled the interior of the residence once it was complete.
The home on display is a sophisticated new-build, hand-crafted from the ground up. The residence stands alone in terms of architecture, materials and its thoughtful, modern floor plan. Marble, tile and fixtures selected from Waterworks appoint the home, and a chef’s kitchen, with cabinetry by Aspen Leaf, opens to a family room with folding doors that open to the patio. Indoor spaces by Designs by Sundown seamlessly flow into the beautiful outdoor areas.
Local businesses, including Comida, Quality Italian Steakhouse, Tender Belly, The Bumblebee, Wynkoop Brewery and Lukas Liquor Superstore, will contribute sumptuous culinary fare and libations to the event, offering a taste of nearby Cherry Creek with show house participants.
The event benefits Children’s Colorado, the only nonprofit hospital in the seven-state region caring exclusively for kids. Over $300,000 was raised by the DDSH in past years, and donations are projected to grow in 2017.
“Children’s Colorado is grateful for LIV Sotheby’s International Realty’s valuable partnership over the last five years through the Denver Designer Show House event,” said Cary Larger, SVP Community Fundraising, Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation. “The team’s philanthropic spirit spreads the word about Children’s Colorado and helps set an example of how organizations can get involved in the community. We can’t thank them enough for the work they’ve done and the big difference they are making in the lives of the patients and families served at Children’s Colorado.”
Contributing designers to this year’s show house include Alvarez Morris Architectural Studio, Casey St. John Interiors, Chalet, D+D Interiors, Knape & Zibell, KC Studio, Mitchell Gold+Bob Williams, Studio LW, Studio STG, Nancy Boland and Waterworks.
Art curator Ann Benson Reidy returns to the show house for her fourth consecutive year to add finishing artistic touches to the home once completed by Alvarez and Morris.
“We are very proud to again represent the Denver Designer Show House,” said LIV Sotheby’s International Realty Cherry Creek VP managing broker Shannel Ryan. “Today’s consumer is highly focused on quality and craftsmanship and 346 Elm Street is simply full of stunning details that will not disappoint.”
The event kicks off with an Opening Night Cocktail Party on Thursday, Oct. 27. To purchase tickets and for more details on the home tour, preview party, and other unique offerings, visit DenverShowHouse.com.
