A homicide case in Golden may be linked to the .

Salt Lake City police asked the Golden Police Department to do a welfare check at a trailer at the Clear Creek RV Park in central Golden after a green 2000 Ford pickup truck registered to a man living there was linked to the shooting.

Police found the 63-year-old owner dead inside his RV and determined that he had been deceased for a few days, according to a statement from the Golden Police Department. His identity has not been released as his family is still being notified.

The man was staying in the Clear Creek RV Park on a short-term lease.

Police have identified Austin Jeffrey Boutain, 24, and Kathleen Elizabeth Rose Boutain, 23, as people of interest in the Golden death.

Austin Boutain turned himself in to law enforcement in connection with the attempted carjacking and killing of ChenWei Guo, a 23-year-old student from China, Monday night.

Salt Lake City Police Det. Greg Wilking said the Golden man’s green pickup truck is tied to the .

Kathleen Boutain, who was arrested in Salt Lake City on charges unrelated to the shooting, told police that she and her husband traveled to the Salt Lake City area in a stolen vehicle, according to her arrest affidavit.

Kathleen Boutain is being held on charges of theft by receiving stolen property, use or possession of drug paraphernalia and possession or use of a controlled substance.

Before the shooting, Kathleen Boutain had gone to the University of Utah campus to report that her husband had assaulted her while the two were camping at the adjacent Red Butte Canyon campgrounds, Wilking said.

Shortly after, Guo was killed in a carjacking, he said.

“Unfortunately, the victim was up in the area and there was a ‘wrong place, wrong time’ situation,” Wilking said.

Police still are looking for the green truck, a 2000 Ford F-350 which has Colorado license plates 460-DZX
