Police combed neighborhoods in east Colorado Springs early Thursday morning, looking for at least one armed suspect.
After hours of searching, initial investigation indicates a shooting involved people in two vehicles, according to Colorado Springs police. One shooter remains at large Thursday, according to a police report. Two people were being treated a Memorial Hospital for gunshot wounds.
According to , “the suspect fired several shots at the victims” in another vehicle.
Several people called 911 to report hearing gunshots in the 4100 block of Oro Blanco, about a half mile south of Barnes Road at about 1:55 a.m., police said.
Responding officers didn’t find anything unusual in the area, but two shooting victims showed up shortly afterward at Memorial Hospital, police said.
Meanwhile, another officer reported a car driving at excessive speeds about 3 miles from Oro Blanco. That vehicle crashed at North Academy Boulevard and East San Miguel Street, and one person jumped out of the vehicle and ran, according to .
Police believe the incidents are related, but the shooting victims have been uncooperative, according to police.
Police with a K-9 team searched the area throughout the morning, asking people to stay indoors, tweeting updates of the search in the hours before dawn.
