A juvenile with a loaded gun was arrested Tuesday afternoon on the grounds of Chaparral High School.
The school resource officer responded to a “suspicious subject” about 2:15 p.m., according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

The juvenile walked away from the officer but eventually was restrained. After being taken into custody, a loaded handgun, stolen in Pueblo, was found in the juvenile’s backpack.
The suspect, who is not a Chaparral student, was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center in Centennial. Charges are pending.
