The Boulder County District Attorney’s Office is weighing whether to charge a 15-year-old Lakewood boy as an adult in connection with the stabbing death of a Longmont woman.
Makayla Grote, a 2016 graduate of Green Mountain High School, died Saturday night at a hospital after she was stabbed at a Longmont apartment complex.
Police arrested the 15-year-old seven hours later on suspicion of first-degree murder. His name has not been released.
Boulder County District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Catherine Olguin said the teenager will appear in juvenile court Monday afternoon and then prosecutors will decide whether to move the case to district court, where he would be tried as an adult. A decision will be made about what charges to file by Wednesday, Olguin said.
