Re: “,” Nov. 17 Kate Harding column.

The takeaway from Kate Harding’s contorted defense of Al Franken is: All men are pigs, but Democratic pigs are less piggish than Republican pigs because Dems talk the talk. She apparently is OK with this hypocrisy as long as its practitioners continue to advance the feminist cause. By seeking to excuse Franken’s Clintonian behavior as a political necessity, Harding willingly trades the Atwoodian for the Orwellian.

Harding’s attitude will lead more men, not fewer, to succumb to their porcine instincts, knowing that absolution is only a tearful acknowledgement away. Marching under the feminist banner should not excuse men from groping the backsides in front of them.
