I have made many trips between Denver and Colorado Springs, and I agree with letter-writer Howard Williams, who wrote about being tailgated while using the left lane. I pull into the left lane to pass slow-moving vehicles and am even going above the speed limit at times. Someone comes up behind me and demands I move immediately. If I am going at least 10 mph faster than the right lane, I cannot safely move over into a small space. I tried it once and vowed I would never again do that. I am left with two choices: go faster, which doesn’t satisfy the person pushing to get me out of the way; or I can slow down so I can safely move, which causes more anger behind me. The left lane is for passing, not for your own personal speedway.
