Firefighters rescue three dogs from storm drain in Littleton

Deputies said the dogs got into the storm drain by running into a nearby culvert

LITTLETON – You’ve heard about firefighters rescuing cats from trees, but what about dogs in storm drains?

An animal control officer with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received such a call on Monday about three mastiffs stuck in a storm drain at West Arlington Place and South Zinna Court in Littleton.

Deputies said the dogs got into the storm drain by running into a nearby culvert after escaping from their yard.

Firefighters from West Metro Fire Rescue were able to get all three dogs out safely.
