Multiple reports Tuesday morning say that Brian Lindgren has left the Colorado football program to take the job as the offensive coordinator at Oregon State.
Lindgren has spent the past five years as offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach and play caller at Colorado. Over the last two years, Lindgren and Darrin Chiaverini have worked as co-coordinators on the offense.
CU has yet to confirm Lindgren’s departure, but him leaving could open the door for Chiaverini to take over as sole coordinator of the Buffaloes’ offense. Chiaverini also coaches the CU receivers.
This would be the first of what could be multiple changes to CU’s coaching staff following a disappointing season in which the Buffs (5-7, 2-7 Pac-12) finished last in the South division for the fourth time in head coach Mike MacIntyre’s five years in Boulder.
After going 10-4 and winning the South in 2016, the Buffs were aiming for the conference title this season and believed that an explosive, up-tempo offense would lead them there. Instead, the Buffs finished 11th in the Pac-12 and 80th nationally in scoring, at just 26.4 points per game.
