I read the article about a decline in late-night viewership of local news stations. Perhaps viewers are tired of seeing “news” that focuses on murders, rapes, robberies, kidnappings, gruesome car wrecks, dogs dying in hot cars, incessant ads, and the staple of it all, frightening photos of black and Hispanic bad guys.

If you add the endless chatter among newscasters, you get a program that has questionable value. Broadcast news should be a hallowed public service. These stations should be ashamed of themselves.
