Three people were shot and wounded in two separate incidents in the area of Monaco Parkway in Denver on Sunday. Police don’t believe the incidents are connected.
One person was taken to a hospital Sunday morning after being shot in the leg in the 800 block of South Monaco Parkway, Denver police said.
The victim’s wounds are not life-threatening, and there is so far no suspect information, said Tyrone Campbell, police spokesman.
“It looks like the people involved know each other. We are not concerned about public safety.”
Campbell said he is not aware of any gang involvement.
At 12:26 p.m. someone called police and told dispatchers there had been a shooting and they were driving away from the area of Colfax Avenue and Monaco Parkway “to get out of the area,” Campbell said.
“We kept them on the phone and asked Aurora to contact them,” he added.
The vehicle stopped at Havana Street and First Avenue. Police found two people in the vehicle with gunshot wounds.
Police reopened roads closed for investigation at Colfax and Monaco at about 2 p.m., Campbell said.
“There is no reason on our end to believe they are connected,” Campbell said.
