A 19-year-old Denver man who woke up a sleeping man by kicking him in the head has been sentenced to 24-years in prison.
Emmanuel Leon pleaded guilty in October to first-degree assault-serious bodily injury. He was sentenced Friday in Denver District Court, according to a news release from the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
Leon behind two restaurants on the 1400 block of South Federal Boulevard. At least one victim was asleep when he was awakened by kicks to his head, the news release said.
One victim managed to flag down a Denver Police Department officer, who found the second victim lying unconscious in a parking lot. Several pools of blood were near him, the news release said. Police originally reported that the sleeping man was so badly beaten that his face was misshapen.
