Re: “,” Dec. 4 news story.

According to President Donald Trump, our public lands are “controlled by a small handful of very distant bureaucrats located in Washington.” I couldn’t disagree more. Our public lands are controlled by 326 million Americans, the vast majority of whom recognize that protecting these places represents one of the most important and lasting bonds between us all. Public lands are also an enormous part of what makes Colorado so unique and prosperous, but the presidentap attack on lawfully created monuments in Utah threatens our parks and monuments as well. I thank Gov. John Hickenlooper, Reps. Diana DeGette and Ed Perlmutter, and Sen. Michael Bennet for speaking out against this misguided move.
