Last week, I received an email from Sen. Cory Gardner regarding the Las Vegas shooting in October. He vowed not to forget the killed and injured and the first responders, and said his prayers are with the victims and families.

I am tired of the “prayers” and “moments of silence” offered by Congress. Instead, they need to actually address our problem with mass shootings and gun violence in America. They need to explore methods and/or legislation that will keep guns out of the hands of the mentally unstable, terror suspects, criminals, and domestic violence perpetrators. They should address the issue of non-retail and private gun sales and transfers into the hands those same people.

The NRA and anyone who covets their gun ownership rights should promote a solution to this problem, or else the trampled rights of victims and their families may soon lead to the very gun ownership restrictions they deplore.
