It’s Friday, and we’re in the thick of hoops season. What better to do than to head out to a local gym and take in some conference action? Here’s insight into four games of note tonight.

GIRLS HOOPS

No. 8 Lakewood (13-3) at No. 3 Ralston Valley (14-1), 5:30 p.m.: In a Jeffco League showdown, the Tigers are out to avenge their 14-point loss to the Mustangs on Jan. 4. But Ralston Valley is going to be tough to stop as senior Delaynie Byrne & Co. look to put themselves on the inside track toward a repeat conference crown.

No. 3 Golden (14-2) at No. 8 D’Evelyn (12-4), 7 p.m.: The Demons need a rebound victory following their loss to No. 2 Evergreen earlier in the week, a game in which the Cougars controlled the tempo for the decisive fourth quarter. Meanwhile, D’Evelyn has won five straight behind the play of senior point guard Angi Reed and senior guard Bailey Marvel.

BOYS HOOPS

Thomas Jefferson (10-6) at No. 4 Denver East (13-2), 5:30 p.m., Thunderdome: In a cross-classification Denver Prep League showdown, the 4A Spartans look to pull a road upset with sophomore guard Darius Hornbuckle leading the way against an Angels team that, though star-laden, relies on role players such as junior Clayton Finley-Ponds in order to round out the scoring.

No. 10 Eaglecrest (10-6) at No. 6 Overland (9-7), 7 p.m.: In the Post Preps Radio Game of the Week, the Raptors travel northwest for a Centennial League rumble against the Blazers. Look for Overland to attempt to eliminate Eaglecrest’s top scorer, senior Branden Bunn, while the Blazers need quality interior play from seniors Goy Wang and Laolu Oke.
