Re: “Protecting world’s journalists,” Jan. 21 editorial ().

It is important to not only consider whatap happening to journalists around the world, but also here at home. Yes, it is tragic that the world lost 42 innocent lives last year, but what is it worth if the institution they represent is undermined in the world today? The respect for journalists and the art of journalism is sharply declining because of the perspective of our president. We must consider how dangerous this must be, as we are now questioning the institution that (more than anything) pushes the truth. Without considering how important these journalists are, we are only hurting ourselves and the desire for truth. It is time to look at these 42 dead, and the thousands of disrespected, and say, “OK, we’re listening now.”
