Charges were filed Wednesday against Dae-mon Davis, 23, in connection with a shooting at a King Soopers that sent one man to the hospital earlier this week.
Davis has been charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder and a count of crime of violence. The victim is expected to survive.
Davis allegedly shot the man after a verbal altercation at the King Soopers in Denver’s Green Valley Ranch neighborhood Sunday morning. He then got into his black Jeep and drove away.
When police were en route to the scene an officer noticed a man in a black Jeep near Crown Boulevard and Randolph Place who matched the description of the suspect, Denver DA’s spokesman Ken Lane said Thursday.
The officer made a U-turn in an attempt to pull the Jeep over but Davis had already stopped the car and started running away.
Davis ran toward the 14000 block of East Randolph Place and convinced a resident to let him into their house. A family member became suspicious of Davis and called the cops, Lane said. Police arrived with a SWAT team and a District 5 supervisor talked Davis into giving himself up. He was arrested without further incident.
According to the arrest affidavit, Davis admitted to shooting the victim and fleeing the scene.
