A traffic stop involving a suspected DUI driver in Westminster early Thursday led to the discovery of a body inside a nearby apartment.

About 2 a.m. a suspected DUI driver was stopped near the intersection of Westminster Place and Irving Street, police said.

At the traffic stop, police determined “occupants of the car may have been involved in a shooting,” according to a news release. Officers went to the Edgewood Apartments, 6980 Stuart St., and found a “deceased male in the apartment.”

Marquis Leon Brooks, 21, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter, police said. He is being held at the Adams County jail. Two other males in the vehicle were questioned and released. An investigation is ongoing.

The name of the man who was found dead inside the apartment will be released by the Adams County coroner’s office, pending notification of family.
