A 21-year-old man appeared Tuesday in an Adams County courtroom facing multiple felony counts for a fatal shooting at a Westminster apartment.

Marquis Leon Brooks has been charged with manslaughter, possession of a controlled substance, special offender involving a deadly weapon, and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to the district attorney’s office.

Brooks was arrested after a suspected DUI traffic stop Thursday in Westminster. The stop led police to an apartment,  6980 Stuart St., where the body of 22-year-old Zachary Espinosa-Bivens was found. Espinosa-Bivens was shot in the head.

Brooks, who is being held on $10,000 bail, is next scheduled to appear in court March 23 for a preliminary hearing.
